Exceptional and luxurious apartment in a historic 19th century coach gate near the Reep, in the heart of Ghent city centre. The imposing apartment comprises the ground floor and the first floor of a historic building that in 2017 has undergone a profound total renovation and redevelopment that resulted in a striking and quirky boutique residence with only three apartments, this one accompanied by architect Julie D'Aubioul. The whole is a very successful fusion of the original restored decoration of the house and a contemporary pronounced choice of material. The finish is of an unseen high and technical level: from the parquets to the finish in concrete, the careful restoration of historical details such as crownings, panellings and walls that give the entire apartment a unique texture and depth. The heating was chosen for a heat pump per apartment in combination with floor heating processed in solid insulated floors, replacing the original wooden support structure with vaults - unprecedented for this type of buildings. The wooden typical windows with insulating high efficiency glazing were renewed to original model and supplemented with sleek large glass panes in steel look. An elevator was integrated that gives access to all levels. The sun-living room with large kitchen and ceilings up to more than 4 meters height was extended with a kitchen storage room (with a first toilet) and an open desk included in the concrete staircase and access to the huge adjoining terrace. The floor with multiple circulation spaces and built-in, stylish recessed wardrobes, provides three fully equipped bedrooms with parquet, a retro bathroom with freestanding bathtub and walk-through shower, a dressing room, a second toilet, niches for washing machine, a second bathroom with walls in Carrara, a third toilet and second shower, sas with night hall and a second terrace. This publication contains some AI-generated images of interior design to highlight the enormous potential. Underground is a large basement storage included. A car stand can be purchased optionally. The apartment offers a unique balance between the rich history of Ghent and contemporary design and expressive city dwellers.
