An elegant staircase leads to the first floor, where there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with bath, sink and toilet. On this floor there is also a compact kitchen. If you wish, you can redesign this room to a third bedroom and integrate the kitchen on the ground floor. A spacious basement additionally offers extra storage.
The apartment also features a garage that is licensed as a bicycle storage room. The garage driveway can be mutually agreed to use it at agreed times.
The apartment was designed by the Ghent architect Charles Hoge, one of the most striking representatives of Ghent architecture. His work starts from the Flemish brick architecture and the traditional building culture of Northwest Europe, but is enriched with elements from Anglo-Normandian architecture and historical styles.
This architecture addressed in particular the wealthy bourgeoisie of Ghent. Characteristic for Charles Hoge designs are the strong volume effect, the high roofs, careful choice of materials and the rich details that give the facades and interiors their distinctive character.
Also inside the apartment clearly bears the signature of the interbellum period. The rooms are characterized by exceptional ceiling heights of 3.20 meters, giving the interior a sense of space and light. Numerous authentic elements were preserved and contribute to the warm and characterful atmosphere in the house. Ornate carvings, original tile floors and parquet floors refer to the attention to detail that was typical of that time.
