Let yourself be surprised by the pure tranquility of the Great Beguinage, a village-in-the-city, near the bustling city centre.
In 1993 the Convent Sint-Dominicus was completely rebuilt. Numerous charming, authentic elements were retained or carefully restored. Today the historical character is a beautiful combination with contemporary comfort and high quality materials. The house is exceptionally spacious and very well maintained.
Entrance hall with toilet. On the right is the charming living room on parquet, with a beautiful bay window, lots of light and views of the garden. The low, open library cabinets simultaneously hide the radiators: A detail that fits nicely with the interior. The kitchen was also very well equipped. The typical Dutch windows open outwards, so herbs can just stand on the windowsill. In addition, a handy dirt system makes daily practical work surprisingly easy.
Afterwards lie the dining area and the sunroom, with large French doors leading to the garden. Thanks to the harmonica doors, both rooms can be assembled into one generous living space, ideal when there are many guests. Enjoy the sunny garden, a lovely outdoor space, in the middle of the Beguinage.
Further on the ground floor is a bedroom with en suite bathroom and mezzanine. At the back there is a spacious storage room with laundry, practical fitted wardrobes and a door to the garden. A connecting rental garage, small backyard and basement complete the whole.
From the living room the original staircase leads to the first floor. The spacious central hall offers space for a desk and gives access to three bedrooms, a second bathroom and separate toilet.
Finally, there is the spacious attic, accessible via a fixed staircase. This open space offers numerous possibilities: extra bedrooms, a hobby room, desk or studio. You decide how to fill out this floor.
A special house in a special place, in the middle of the Great Beguinage of Mechelen.
